Personal

I'm Jonathan, a dreamer and doer trying to process my changing identities in real time. I've always processed my thoughts through writing, and after years of piecemeal writing across a number of sites, AI has made it too simple for me to not have my own place for my ongoing thoughts.

I'm thankful everyday for my tremendous and growing family. I'm a father of 2 young girls, a husband to my wonderful wife, Kiersa, a brother, a son, and I'm committed to holding onto my roots while navigating how my circumstances change my identity.

I'm using this writing as a place to continue to build personal coherence. I grew up in Northern Alabama, lower middle class, and my entire reality was colored by being in and around (a certain common expression of) Black American culture.

Since my college years, my personal journey has continually been about evolving my definition of self around new interests, ambitions, and contexts while holding onto the values and cultural tenets that shaped me. I believe that it is some of the most important work of my life, and it is both joyous and unending.
